Meet Rachel

Picture

Rachel began to serve birthing families after giving birth to her own two children. By the time she began midwifery training, she had attended around 100 births as a doula, in a variety of settings. As more and more people asked about birthing options in her community, she recognized the need for a local homebirth midwife and felt called to pursue midwifery training.

She apprenticed with three area midwives, following women through the entire midwifery care cycle, and did concurrent academic work with Ancient Art Midwifery Institute. Rachel earned the Certified Professional Midwife credential through the North American Registry of Midwives in 2016, but she has learned the most by paying attention to the more than 250 births she has been invited to attend since she opened her practice.

Rachel is a Kansas native who grew up on a farm with four younger sisters. Before she was a mother and worked with birthing families, she was a teacher at Manhattan High School. When she's not doing midwifery work, Rachel enjoys spending time with her husband and kids, running, reading, cooking yummy food for the people she loves, and savoring a warm cup of tea.
